Thames Valley District School Board
Trustee - Art Cartier

"Taxpayers are weary of continuing conflict between government, teachers and boards. It is important that we all pull together for the sake of the children.

"A courageous solution to the challenge of education time lost by children, whose elders are paying in good faith, would confine work interruption dialogue to summer holidays by legislation initiated by Trustees."

Art was first elected as a Thames Valley Trustee in 2000 to represent London Wards 4, 5 and 6. But Art isn’t a rookie to local politics. He served from 1970 to 1991 on the City of London Board of Control, and from 1992 to 1994 on the London Public Utilities Commission. Art has even served a short term, March to December 1971, as Deputy Mayor of London. In 1961, Art was the President of the Princess Elizabeth Home and School Club.

Art sits on a number of committees for Thames Valley, including:

  • Budget Advisory Committee
  • Native Advisory Committee
  • Ad Hoc Trustee Professional Development Committee

Art has authored several books and, at age 87, may consider writing one more.
