on the JKSK TWeb Achievement Project:

JKSK TWeb Achievement is a web based elementary reporting system that will allow teachers to write reports from anywhere there is a computer with Internet access. The web application interfaces directly with our Trillium Student Information System providing access to "real time" data.
The JK/SK Report Card has been developed by the Thames Valley District School Board Information Technology Department. It is different from the report cards for grades 1-8 which was purchased from SRB, a third party software developer, who also provides our Student Information System support. This Report Card program is web based and does not require the user to install anything on her/his computer.

    F.A.Q.   || Frequently Asked Questions ||
A FAQ Read-Only conference, named JSK WebAchievement has been created in First Class. All the Learning Coordinator's will be answering email from their own schools, but key questions that appear to be common to everyone will be posted with an appropriate answer in this conference. To find the conference look in the Trillium Web Achievement conference for the JSK WebAchievement conference. Along with the manual and the videos, this conference should answer all your questions, but if not, email or call your Learning Coordinator.
    1. There aren't very many FAQ's on this website. Why?

    2. I lost all my new work ( since my last save ) when I used either the Back button or the Refresh button. Why?

    3. When are the training sessions and where will they be held?

    4. I was reading through the comments in the Comment Builder and the programme suddenly told me that my session had expired and logged me out. What happened?
    5. Where and how will this data from TWebEA be used ?

    6. The collection of this data sounds important, but couldn't the data have been collected from Teacher's Partner?

    7. So how does JKSK TWeb Achievement address the issue of data collection.

    8. What are some of the other benefits of this JKSK TWeb web-based program.

    9. Where can I get some additional help if I'm having difficulty with the JKSK TWeb report card?

    10. Will there be additional training sessions?

    11. I don't have internet connection at home. Are there additional work sites available that have high speed access?

    12. I've been told I need to turn off pop-up stoppers. Why is that and how do I do it?

    13. One of my students is moving before reports are done. If a student moves to another school isn't that student transferred in Trillium? I am still reponsible for the reporting on that student, but I will not longer have access to that student. Trillium will transfer her to the new school. How do you do the report card for this student?

    14. I teach Grade 1, but have a student that needs a SK report card. Do I have to give all my comments to the SK teacher to complete this child's report card?

    1. We have created a FAQ list in the JSK WebAchievement folder in First Class, which is presently in the Trillium Web Achievement conference. To place it on your desktop, find the conference, right click over the JKSK TWeb Achievement conference name and click on Add to Desktop. It will now appear on your desktop. Throughout the time of training and doing reports we will continue to add FAQ's to this list which will be created from your inquires and emails.
We will also monitor the JK-SK Conference.

    3.
When are the training sessions and where will they be held?

Additional training sessions are being held at these times. If you need some assistance contact your Learning Coordinator of Technology

The mechanics of using the report card have not changed. The only differences are the addition of a new strand box and the comment bank has been updated. If you used the JK/SK report card last year you do not need to attend this workshop. It is intended for people who have never used the JK/SK report card program before.

I was reading through the comments in the Comment Builder and the programme suddenly told me that my session had expired and logged me out. What happened?
    4. You must have been inactive for 25 minutes. What "inactive" in the JKSK TWeb means is.... you haven't hit save in order to touch Core Trillium. Even if you are typing comments and working in the software - Core Trillium doesn't realize you are there. "Active" means you are saving every 25 minutes or more often.

    5. The collected reporting data will be used in a number of key projects:

OnSIS - Ontario Student Information System - As of September 2006, the Ministry of Education requires all report data to be uploaded to their database. OnSIS is an Internet-enabled system which allows for the collection, management, analysis and reporting of education data concerning boards, schools, teachers, students, classes, enrolment and marks.

ESDW - Elementary/Secondary Data Warehouse - the creation of the ESDW will allow for the integration of educational data which the ministry holds, on students, educators, and courses, with information from external sources such as Statistics Canada and the EQAO, to support the needs of stakeholders.

MISA - Managing Information on Student Achievement - this project will allow for effective evidence-informed decision-making in the school system. This project is funded provincially and will provide funding for the electronic Student Information System and Data Warehouse projects.

    6. The collection of this data sounds important, but couldn't the data have been collected from Teacher's Partner?
Unfortunately, no. The report card data generated using Teacher's Partner was only held at the school level and could not be shared electronically. There was no way to import the data into Trillium, and even if there were, it would be incredibly labour intensive.

    7. So how does JKSK TWeb Achievement address the issue of data collection.
Like TWebEA, the JKSK TWeb report card was set up directly in Core Trillium by the school secretary. When you are working on report cards using your web browser, you save your work directly to Core Trillium. Consequently, there is no importing/exporting/merging of data required.

    || top of FAQ || top of page ||

    8. 1. Adding/deleting students and attendance will be generated through Core Trillium. Report card administrative tasks such as creating classes, merging, and printing will be done through Trillium in the school office . The classroom teacher will no longer be expected to perform these tasks.

    2. Teachers will no longer need floppy disks to transfer data to and from school.

    3. In the past the IT department spent the majority of their time at the beginning of the school year installing, repairing, configuring and maintaining Teacher’s Partner. This included installing updates, fixes and new versions. Consequently, there was very little time for other technical issues at the school level during the months of September and October. Therefore, the implementation of this new system will allow IT to focus on technology as it relates to enabling/improving student learning.

    9. 1. Self Help :

There are a number of resources available including a teacher’s user manual, (above) The JKSK TWeb Conference in First Class and the video tutorials on this website and in the Employee Portal.
  • A JKSK TWeb Achievement Conference has been created in First Class. FAQ's will be created from emails teachers send to their Learning Coordinators.

  • The User Manual is posted to the conference and is also available on the web site. Teachers will be able to download the manual from either site.
  • Video Tutorials have been created to help you learn the basics of the program or to use as a reference tool. These tutorials are better viewed using a high speed Internet connection.

    2. ITS Help Desk - Extended Hours
  • Extended hours have not yet been determined for this reporting period.

  • The ITS Help Desk can be contacted by phone at 452-2005 or via First Class. For other limited assistance, you may call Cliff Kraeker's cell - 281-6481 at anytime.

    Before You Call For Support:

    1. Try to determine the exact nature of the problem.
Make notes to document the exact problem and the circumstances in which it occurred.
    2. Check the First Class JKSK TWeb Achievement Conference for current postings and updates
If you haven't already moved it to your desktop for quick reference, you will find it in the Trillium WebAchievement conference. Right click over that icon and click Add to Desktop and it will be more accessible to you.
    3. Read the documentation created to help users. That documentation is at the top of this page.

    10. Will there be additional training sessions?
There is no additional training at the present time, however, the manual and accompanying video tutorials should be enough to enable all teachers to complete their reports on time. They are available on this website or from within the portal on the first page as you enter the online report card.

    11. I don't have internet connection at home. Are there additional work sites available that have high speed access?
To support teachers during the report writing process, certain work sites will be available on "key" weeknights. Each site will have a Learning Coordinator for Technology available to answer any questions you may have.

    12. I've been told I need to turn off pop-up stoppers. Why is that and how do I do it?
A prompt reminding you to save your comments pops up regularly in TWebEA. You WANT to see that pop-up, so you need to disable your pop-up stoppers. The most common are in the Google Tool Bar. Just click the pop-up section to allow pop-ups to work.

Another method is to go to Tools in Internet Explorer / Pop-up Blocker / Turn Off Pop-up Blocker. (see image below)

    13. One of my students is moving before reports are done. If a student moves to another school isn't that student transferred in Trillium? I am still reponsible for the reporting on that student, but I will not longer have access to that student. Trillium will transfer her to the new school. How do you do the report card for this student?
Once a student leaves a school, they become inactive at their old school and active at their new one. However, they are not immediately removed from their assigned class(es) at their old school. Consequently a report card can still be produced.

    14. I teach Grade 1, but have a student that needs a SK report card. Do I have to give all my comments to the SK teacher to complete this child's report card?
You can do your own report. Every teacher with an employee number has access to the JKSK database. Simply log into the Portal and access the JKSK TWeb report card. All your Grade 1 students will appear in the JKSK TWeb report card. Only complete the report card for the one student who needs the SK report. Your secretary will print the report card through Report Writer.

    15. I am transferring to another school next year. What happens to my comment banks when I transfer schools?
Your personal comment bank data is safe and secure. Your personal comment bank data will show up in your personal space at whatever school you may find yourself at next year.
