Why did we open a Parenting and Family Literacy Centre?

Children do better in school and in life when parents get involved with their learning. The early years are very important. Parenting and Family Literacy Centres are places where parents/caregivers and children come to play and learn together. The centres introduce families to the school system and help prepare children for kindergarten.

Who can go to a Parenting and Family Literacy Centre?

Centres are open to babies and children up to six years old and their parents/caregivers.

What happens at a Parenting and Family Literacy Centre?

Children and parents do play-based learning activities that include music and story time, reading and counting. Each centre has a lending library with books in different languages.

When can parents and kids come?

The centre is open from September to June. Please check this website in September to find out about the start date of the program, and its hours of operation.

Do parents need to sign up?

No pre-registration is needed, and it is free for all families. Snack are provided.
