WOW! I can’t believe that June is here! It seems only a few short months ago I was writing to welcome you to grade 2/3 and here we are completing our year. Over the past few months, I have seen so much improvement and success from the students in this class. Thank you to all of you who have worked with your children at home and reinforced the skills they were learning in the classroom.  I am extremely happy with their accomplishments and feel very fortunate to have had such a supportive family group this year; you have played a key role in helping your child succeed! 

We have had a really fun year. I look forward to a few more adventures before this school year comes to an end. With that in mind, please be aware that June is an extremely busy month here at school with many special activities and events planned. It would be very helpful if you would keep your home routines consistent even as the end of the school year approaches. Consistent bed times, bringing healthy snacks to school, sending a water bottle and sunscreen etc., will all help the children to enjoy these activities without feeling overwhelmed.

Congratulations to our Terrific Kids for the month of May. Hasslina and Manizha both showed excellent skills when getting along with others and deserved to win the social skill award for this month.  Jasmine, our academic award winner has been working extra hard in language in both her reading and writing. June’s social skill is “Giving and accepting compliments”.  We will all be working hard to accomplish this sometimes difficult social skill.

As you know, EQAO testing began on May 29^th for our grade 3 students, and will continue in the mornings of the first week of June. Please continue to encourage your child to put forth his/her best efforts during this time.

Our year end trip is quickly approaching and we are so excited! Thank you to all of you who have helped to make this experience happen for your children! What an amazing adventure it will be! Please continue to reinforce the expectations of appropriate classroom behaviour as a prerequisite for attending the trip with us. We are looking for the last few permission forms and money to filter in. If you haven’t done so already, please ensure that these items are in ASAP, as the trip will be here before we know it!
