Organic Chemistry

Organic molecules are those molecules which contain carbon.

Molecules made up of Hydrogen (H) and Carbon (C) are known as hydrocarbons.

Molecules made up of Hydrogen (H), Oxygen (O), and Carbon (C) in a certain proportion are known as carbohydrates.

compound chemical formula
Methane CH4
Ethane C2H6
Propane C3H8
Butane C4H10
Octane C8H18
Glucose C6H12O6

Methane (CH4) and Ethane (C2H6) are examples of an organic molecules (and they are also hydrocarbons).

When two methane (CH4) molecules are combined, they form an ethane molecule (C2H6).
