Cell Wall

Structure
   - a non-living secretion of the cell membrane, composed of
     cellulose
   - cellulose fibrils deposited in alternating layers for strength
   - contains pits (openings) that make it totally permeable

Function
   - provides protection from physical injury
   - together with vacuole, provides skeletal support
